The first lighthouse at Grandique Point was actually a light pole established in 1884. With the opening of St. Peter’s Canal, the Lennox Passage saw an increase of water traffic, so for the safety of the sailors lighthouses were erected along the shores. Due to erosion, the light pole was moved in 1900 and a proper lighthouse was erected in 1906 but storm damage forced the lighthouse to be moved once again to its present location in 2010.
